* DDD - Defined Daily Dose
For each active substance the defined daily dose or DDD is assigned by a panel of experts.
It is the assumed average maintenance dose per day for a drug used for its main indication in adults.
More detailed information can be found in our Charter.
Hereby  the joint representation of the actual expenses (CI – cost insurance – in million euro)  and consumption (measured in DDD – defined daily doses*, expressed in millions) of medicines that are delivered in retail pharmacies and reimbursed by the compulsory health insurance in Belgium within the third payer system, compared with the totals of the two previous years.
